Walking through the Fenway

Place: Boston (Fenway) – The Fenway section is like an island oasis surrounded on all sides by the hustle and bustle of the city.

In the center is the Back Bay Fens, one of the pieces of the Emerald Necklace of parks that Olmsted had originally designed, but since has been significantly revised.

Within the fens are the Fenway Victory Gardens. I knew that these gardens were special, but I didn’t know that these were so historic, too.

This building houses the first ‘Y’ branch in America.

I have passed by this stone monument about Harriet Tubman several times before finally waymarking it. It took transcribing the text from photos for me to finally read and take in what was on the monument. There is powerful imagery in those words.
