Waymark 500: Categories Posted

This run from 400 to 500 waymarks had many new categories, as well as some changes in the order of the top five waymarks.  The number of waymarks in MA Historical Markers increased only slightly.  It is still the dominant category, but it contains less than a third of all waymarks posted.  US Benchmarks is now 2nd, and Masonic Temples 3rd,  US Register of Historic Places 4th and Municipal Parks and Plazas 5th.  A sampling of new categories include: Dated Buildings and Cornerstones; Famous Fires; Vintage Movie Theatres; Elevation Signs; NRHP Historic District – Contributing Buildings; Independent Hot Dog Stands; Historic United Methodist Sites; Lonely Chimneys; Converted Firehouses; Closed Drive-In Theatres; Milestones; Former Schools; Retired Prisons; Comic Book Shops; Humorous Combination Businesses; Police Stations; River Origins, Destinations, and Confluences; Roman Catholic Churches; Independent Diners; Courthouses; Television and Cable Broadcasting Stations; McDonalds; Airports; Vertical Lift Bridges; Firehouses; Independent Coffee Shops; Public Playgrounds; Building Buildings; Bowling Centres; Dedicated Benches; Episcopal Churches; Synagogues; Knights of Columbus Councils; Auto Clubs; and Frieze Art.  This is some 35 new categories, which means that one in three waymarks posted in the last 100 were in new categories.  In the future, I hope to continue to broaden the categories that I list in.

The following is a list of categories where I have posted:
